Editorial

I plan on writing my editorial on the Obama administration's attack on the constitution, more specifically governmental nullification of contracts. This administration is stepping into the private sector and forcing the breach of contracts between companies and their employees, past and present. I intend to write about the how the powers that be feel that because the government now holds shares of many of the country's financial institutions they can renege on, or tax up to 90% of bonuses that these companies were and are contractually obligated to pay their employees.

Feature story

I plan on writing a feature story on the Missouri Renwable Energy Organization, with emphasis on biodiesel and hydrogen conversions on automobiles

Interview

Kimberly Duede was involved in a car accident in northern Illinois over winter break.

The 19 year-old transfer student from Brigham Young University was traveling home for the holidays when her green Ford Focus slid off an icy road. The accident occurred 20 minutes outside of Freeport, Ill, Duedes hometown. When interviewed about the incident Duede commented on local wildlife saying, "If I saw big foot I would shoot it." Duede went on to say, " I have shot a russian assault rifle before."

Event Preview

I am planning to do my event preview on the annual Soulard Mardi Gras. I plan to interview a spokesperson from Mardi Gras Inc., as well as some establishments in the neighborhood. I think this story matters because it's the third largest Mardi Gras celebration in the world and attracts many different people from all around the midwest.

MC 202 In-class assignment

An 18-year-old freshman student at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville was found injured in the basement of a campus dormitory, police believe he fell between two and ten stories down a trash chute.

Thomas Schwanke was found by police at 7:40 a.m., and was transported to Anderson Hospital in Maryville for treatment. Witnesses said Schwanke had been drinking earlier in the morning. Mary Rouse, Dean of Students at the university said: “The incident again raises concern about alcohol abuse on campus”.
